If you have been following us for awhile you will likely know that we have participated in Marie Greene's 4 Day Knit Along for the past 7 years. This is our 8th year and Marie's 10th. She is saying that this will be the last one. I think she has outdone herself with this year's designs. I hope you'll join us to knit one of these sweaters (there are 2 options!).

I think the designs for this year are really good. You can either make the Watermark Pullover or the Watermark Cardigan. There are also 3 sleeve length options for each sweater. I love the all-over lace design. You are going to be able to wear either of these sweaters in a lot of different ways. Depending on the yarn that you choose, you could make either of these more dressy or more casual. Both patterns use the same gauge, so any of the yarns that I recommend will work for either sweater.
We will have the Cast On Party on Wednesday, July 1 from 5-7 pm. You can join us in person or via Zoom.
Register here! I will help with your gauge swatches, share any tips and tricks, and help with sizing information during the event. The KAL is free but I do ask that you purchase your yarn from us. For now, if you'd like to join us in knitting either of these designs, please sign up on our website and then check out the yarn options here on our blog.
You can also purchase your pattern from us or on Ravelry. The actual patterns won't be available until July 1 but if you purchase your pattern now, you will receive swatching information. The links to both patterns are below. And just a note that the 4 Day KAL is our Sweater #4 in the Year of Sweaters classes. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
And now for the yarn options!

If you want to make a lighter, more summery cardigan or pullover I would suggest using Shoreline Sport from Sea Change Fibers. I love this yarn so much! It's a beautiful blend of Rambouillet/Merino, Linen and Silk. You can find the colors here. If we don't have enough of the color that you want, please let me know and I can get it ordered for you.

I'm making my Watermark Cardigan with Patagonia Organic Merino. It is another of my favorite yarns. It is a non-superwash, Merino wool that is light weight but warm. It's knitting up in this pattern beautifully! I'm planning to make mine with either 3/4 or long sleeves, so this yarn will be perfect for an early spring or late fall sweater when we still have those chilly mornings but it warms up during the day. There are lots of colors of this yarn available and if I don't have what you want, I can order it for you. Check out all of the colors here.

Another great option is Madrona DK. This lovely yarn is a blend of Alpaca, Merino and Bamboo. It has a slight sheen, which makes it feel a little bit dressier. Check out the colors here and again, I can order the color that you want if we don't have it in stock.

Remix Wool DK is another lovely yarn that works well for either of these sweaters. It is an all recycled blend of wool, cotton, polyamide and acrylic. I really like how the swatch I made turned out in this yarn. It falls more on the rustic looking side of things. The colors are really nice.
You can see them here.
Vintage Baby is a nice, affordable option. It is a blend of superwash wool and acrylic. It's nice and soft and the colors are pretty. It does come in 50 gram balls with will mean more ends to weave in, which is something to keep in mind.
Check out the colors here.
Finally, some of my shop owner friends were able to get gauge with Cashmello from Berroco. This is a really pretty yarn that has great stitch definition. It's a blend of Merino, acrylic and cashmere. I did a swatch with it and didn't get gauge but if you are a tighter knitter, I think you could make it work.
You can find the colors here.
I think there are a couple more options depending on your tension. I'm swatching with
Camper from Kelbourne Woolens right now and I think it's going to work. It would make a lighter weight sweater. I also tried
Pima Soft from Berroco but I didn't get gauge with it. But if you really want to make either of these out of cotton, I think we could make it work - especially if you aren't making the smallest size. If you'd like to join us, be sure to register for the Cast On Party! The link is above. And let me know what you think!
