Project ideas with some of the new yarns in the store!

We have been getting in so many new yarns in the store. I wanted to share some project ideas for some of them with you.

First up - Tulla Twinkle from Louisa Harding is a delightfully soft, worsted weight blend of wool, cotton & synthetic fibres in dreamy pastel colors. A thin metallic thread runs through the yarn, adding soft flecks of sparkle. I think this yarn is especially fun for children (although adults will like it too). The Terrazzo Sweater Junior from Petiteknit would be a great pattern for this yarn.

The Balete Cardigan is another design that I think would be perfect for Tulla Twinkle. I love a hooded cardigan for kids and this one has some nice details. The pattern goes all the way up to adult sizes, so you could also make this one for yourself.

I haven't even talked about this new-to-us yarn yet! Lucky Tweed from Kelbourne Woolens is a quintessentially Irish yarn. It is an authentic Donegal Tweed from Donegal, Ireland. An aran weight yarn that marries a rugged, rustic appearance with an irresistibly soft touch. And the colors are so rich and gorgeous! I'm going to recommend 2 patterns for this yarn. The Weekender from Andrea Mowry. This pattern is an oldie but goodie. It's simple and will knit up quickly. The tweed will add that little extra something to this simple design. I think you'll wear this sweater non-stop!

The Newbold Pullover from Kate Gagnon Osborn was written for Lucky Tweed. Isn't it gorgeous?! This will be a very fun project to knit. It's worked bottom-up in the round, so you get to have the colorwork design on the sleeves without having your armholes down by your waist. Who wants to knit this one?!

Cloud Funky is a new yarn from Lang that is the same base as the extremely popular Lang Cloud but with a zigzag dye pattern. It's such a fun yarn! It is a chain construction with the wool fibers blown into it, which makes it extremely light. This yarn will knit up super quickly. Someone on Ravelry made the Cloud Sweater by Petiteknit in Cloud Funky and it is so so so cute! Why isn't there more time in the day to knit all of the sweaters?! If you're looking for a quick and fun sweater project - this is the one for you.

I talked about the new Saiun from Noro in a previous email. This yarn is so pretty! I'll be sharing lots of pattern ideas for it in the next months but for now I wanted to share two ideas. Grid Gambit is a fun cowl that uses the Mosaic technique. It's a very easy colorwork technique where you are only ever knitting with one strand of yarn. This pattern would be great using Saiun from Noro for your striping color and Rambouillet from Juniper Moon Farms for your solid color. We just got some new colors of Rambouillet, so we can put color combo ideas together for you.

For my second suggestion - you have to go check out the project by mmarchet of Olga's Jacket in Noro Saiun. I've been wanting to talk about this sweater because I think it's an amazing design but then I saw this one in Saiun and I had to share it with you. Please check it out and let me know what you think!

All of these patterns are available in the store or on Ravelry. Check out all of the colors of the yarns on our website!

Stay tuned for more project ideas soon! Let me know if any of these catch your fancy and if you need help choosing colors or figuring out what size to make.
